A Little Something About Me

Jonathon on the Beach

My values allow me to experience the underlying meanings held within assisting others and truly represent ‘what matters’ in my world—feelings.

Emotions are highly important to me; this includes the emotions of others. My friends would say that I dwell too much on other’s perceptions yet what I am truly concerned with are their feelings. Am I helping to create a better world for all?

I tend to rely on my emotions to assist me in decision making. It’s sort of like the ten second rule for interviewing: I know my position on any given subject within moments of it being introduced. This has been the source of great personal and professional struggle and is something that I continually work to improve.

Another aspect of assisting others is the actual experience that it creates. Bonds are formed or strengthened in the process of any task being undertaken. This enables meaningful relationships to grow which, in turn, betters the world as a whole.

The ideas presented in the aforementioned experiences are also an important aspect. This enables me to learn more about other thought processes and morals which, in turn, strengthens my own morals by giving me more reference points to build them upon. What better way to learn about one’s morals than to see them, or their opposite, in action.

Along with the strengthening of my own morals, my knowledge of the world also expands. After all, an idea is like a seed: you plant and nurture the seed (original idea), it begins to take root (development of idea creates more ideas), a single stem breaks ground (idea creates change) and then multiple branches reach for the sky (creation of even further ideas). An idea may not seem to affect me at the time it is presented but, at some point, I may unwittingly use that idea to assist in future decisions or discoveries.

I feel that in practicing my creativity and further developing my values I will strengthen my resolve and integrity. This will then allow me to love and respect the world’s multiple aesthetics even more thoroughly. In the end, what really matters is how I feel, but this is greatly influenced by how others feel.
